| The Building Department of the Town of Sewall's Point administers local building ordinances and the Florida Building Code. The Department is responsible for public safety, health and general welfare through structural strength, sanitation and safety to life and property from fire and other hazards attributed to the built environments. This includes alteration, repair, removal, demolition, use and occupancy of buildings, structures or premises, and by regulating the installation and maintenance of all electrical, gas, mechanical and plumbing systems.
Permits are required for anyone desiring to construct, erect, enlarge, demolish, alter, repair, remove, convert or replace any structure, electrical, gas, mechanical or plumbing system. A Tree Removal Permit is required for any removal of any tree(s) over two inches (2”) in diameter. Special request(s) for inspections, plan review, meetings, etc. are subject to prior arrangement with the Building Official. It is a good practice to check with the Building Department to determine whether or not a permit is required for any specific work.
